Book Party at The Invisible Dog Art Center in Brooklyn

Back In Brooklyn where everything began! It was here that, 10 years ago, the first French dual language program was launched at P.S. 58. Many programs followed after that in French, Russian, Japanese, German, Italian, Chinese, Polish, Arabic. More programs and languages will be added in the years to come, I’m sure of that. I wanted the book to be directed towards parents, with the goal of providing accessible knowledge, guidance, and encouragement as they consider implementing a dual-language program in their community or school. In that spirit, the book provides a roadmap for parents willing to embark on such an initiative, along with suggested steps to follow, examples, and testimonies from parents and educators who have chosen a similar path. Book Launch of The Bilingual Revolution at Albertine Bookstore

I was thrilled to see so many people come to my first event in New York. It was an exciting moment for me to both present this book and spread the word about the Bilingual Revolution.

I had a great exchange with lots of parents, educators, journalists, and people who are just as passionate as I am about bilingualism and language education. We share the same belief that dual-language education has the potential to serve many families, communities, and schools in the U.S. and around the world.

[DE] Kostenloser Zusatzunterricht “Deutsch”, ab September 2017 an der öffentlichen Grundschule P.S. 18 (Brooklyn)

Als ich Sylvia Wellhöfer, eine deutsche Mutter, die in Brooklyn wohnt, zum ersten Mal traf, hatte sie gerade von dem etablierten französischen Dual-Language-Programm an der P.S. 110 (Greenpoint, Brooklyn) erfahren. Sie war überzeugt von der Methode und gründete im Sommer 2015 eine Eltern-Initiative mit dem Ziel das erste kostenlose deutsch/englische Dual-Language-Programm an der Ostküste zu formieren.

Dank der Bemühungen vieler Eltern und institutioneller Partner, wird das bestehende spanisch/englische Dual-Language-Programm an der P.S. 18 (Williamsburg, Brooklyn) ab September 2017 um deutschen Sprachunterricht erweitert. Alle Kinder, die mit Kindergarten (Geburtsjahr 2012) anfangen, haben die Möglichkeit dreisprachig ausgebildet zu werden.

The first German Language Enrichment Program Starts in September at P.S. 18 (Brooklyn)

When I met Sylvia Wellhöfer, a German mother living in Brooklyn, a few years ago, she had just learned about the newly opened French dual-language program at PS110 in Greenpoint (Brooklyn), and was interested in bringing the first German dual language program to a New York City public school.

She started the German Language Program initiative in the summer of 2015 and, thanks to all of her group’s efforts, the first German Language Enrichment Program will finally begin with Kindergarten this September at P.S. 18 – Edward Bush in Williamsburg (Brooklyn).

La Révolution bilingue de Fabrice Jaumont : un livre original, convaincant et passionnant sur le succès de l’éducation bilingue aux Etats-Unis et sur le rôle des parents dans la création de filières bilingues dans l’enseignement public.

  • original parce que de nombreux ouvrages sont consacrés au bilinguisme en famille mais jusqu’à présent aucun ne proposait aux parents le mode d’emploi pour instaurer le bilinguisme dans les écoles de leurs enfants.
  • convaincant parce que ce livre est basé sur l’expérience de l’auteur dans un contexte éducatif très difficile à transformer, sur sa conviction qu’il est possible d’offrir un enseignement bilingue de qualité à tous les enfants et sur son engagement pour une éducation bilingue qui réduise les inégalités entre les langues et leurs locuteurs.
  • passionnant parce qu’il donne aux parents les clés dont ils ont besoin pour transformer l’éducation langagière des enfants, les stratégies à mettre en place pour faire évoluer les systèmes éducatifs, et l’enthousiasme nécessaire pour que l’éducation bilingue devienne la norme dans un nombre croissant d’écoles publiques.
