Il y a une dizaine d’années, les dirigeants de cet Etat américain ont lancé une politique de développement des programmes bilingues en immersion. A travers l’Utah, 225 écoles enseignent désormais la moitié du temps scolaire dans une langue autre que l’anglais. Espagnol et chinois sont en tête, mais il y a également trente-et-une écoles en français.

Back from DC where I proudly supported the efforts of DC Immersion and its wonderful team in what is now referred to as the Bilingual Revolution in DC. During these three days, I took part in no less than 9 events and talked about my book, the role of parents in creating dual language programs, and how these could benefit DC public schools. I stopped by in all 8 Wards and met with community leaders, elected officials, motivated parents, and bilingual educators, while explaining how NYC parents and educators have created new dual language programs in a dozen of languages.
I was recently interviewed by Language magazine for an article about the resurgence of French in North America, La Renaissance (published in the May 2013 edition). I had the opportunity to speak about the development of French dual language programs in New York, and in the United States. Continue reading →
