Conversation with Ellen Bialystok – The Brain and the Potential of Bilingualism

May 18 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

FREE

What’s the best age to start and master a new language? Are bilinguals smarter? Does being bilingual have an impact on our personal and emotional development?

Join us on Friday, May 18 for a special conversation with world-renown cognitive psychologist Ellen Bialystok entitled “The Brain and the Potential of Bilingualism.” Dr. Bialystok will discuss her research on bilinguals and how she uses behavioral and neuroimaging methods to examine the effect of bilingualism on cognitive processes across the lifespan.

Preceded by a presentation of the French Dual Language Fund by Cultural Counselor of the French Embassy Benedicte De Montlaur

The conversation will be moderated by Fabrice Jaumont, Education Attaché, Cultural Services | French Embassy in the US

An expert in cognitive psychology from York University in Toronto, Canada, and a pioneer in bilingualism, Dr. Bialystok has been working on bilingualism for nearly 40 years and uses many methods, ranging from psychology to behavioral sciences and modern imagery, to support and deepen her research.
