I will speak about my book The Bilingual Revolution: The Future of Education is in Two Languages (TBR Books, 2017) with bilingualism expert, Vanessa Handal-Ghenania who founded ArcEnCiel preschool, Petits Poussins Too and Bilingual Nest. I met her recently when I visited Petits Poussins too, here is the post: Petits Poussins are Growing in Harlem.
Books in French and English will be available for purchase at the event.
Conceived as a practical, accessible, “How to” book, The Bilingual Revolution, the Future of Education is in Two Languages is the story of a movement told through the eyes of parents and educators who founded dual language programs in their schools. All share the belief that bilingual education is a public good that can positively transform a child, a school, a community, and even a country.
New York City provides the backdrop for the book, where parents have fought for access to various bilingual public school programs from preschool to high school. With the involvement of educators and families at all levels, these programs transform schools and empower communities in unprecedented ways. Similar programs have developed in hundreds of cities in the United States and around the world. The book will inspire and engage individuals who seek to create their own bilingual programs. Being bilingual can become the new norm, and it starts with our youth. A bilingual revolution has started, and it is for the common good.
